Fantastic Investment – Small Business Tax Software Review

Posted in: Finance |

I've been using Quicken since the DOS days, have been a software analyst working with corporate ERP software, been around the software block a bit in my day. I had great expectations for Quicken 2011, after reading some of the glowing reviews from alleged beta testers, touting the "best Quicken ever".

They graciously sent me link to download 2008 Home & Business for free. I've always been happy with their customer service, and they listen to the 'voice of the customer.' So if there's a method/feature you think could make the product significantly more valuable, or if you just have a question, please feel free to tell them. I plan on contacting Quicken for a solution. I definitely recommend the software but Quicken could stand to make it more flexible and easier to perform some operations. I know people are griping about the fact Quicken makes you upgrade every three years but honestly if you're keeping all your financial records in a computer program you probably don't want something outdated. For the price of the software (less than $70) over the tree year period you're paying about $20 a year to keep everything up to date.

I have everything on 1 page to start with. I can switch from one account to the next with one click. But overall, no weird error messages or restarting, it just worked. One major gripe with 2008 was how bug-ridden the one step update process was. I was very nervous buying this software after the really poor reviews it got but there was not a superior alternative so I took the plunge. I looked at Money Dance but it's just too basic for what I wanted. Hours later my stuff is still importing one transaction at a time, and each transaction requires several clicks. This is not going to work for active traders and investors! I consistently get CC-501 errors. Right now they are offering Quicken Home and Business at a 35% discount and if you are thinking about purchasing it you might want to read all the reviews. With no copy and paste I have to repeat the set up for each one. You can't categorize multiple sub-categories at once.

It isn't perfect, and I haven't quite figured out how use some of its functionality - in particular tracking our investments, but overall I'm quite happy. My bank said they cannot download my transaction to this accounting software because they do not use the newest file transfer systems.

It seems as though they pulled a hunk of code from 1990 and reworked it to shove something out in the market. The software doesn't use basic Windows user interface or commands, which is why it reminds me so much of old DOS software.

If you are a Quicken 2008 owner who needs to download transactions via the web, upgrade to the new version with confidence.

As a software engineer myself, honestly this software is the worst one I have ever experienced. The first day when I tried to use it, it has a fundamental bug to get the basic jobs done.

After all these years, I thought it was time for an upgrade. I was not disappointed.

It crashes on me constantly, and I get unexpected errors with the scheduled one-step updates that I should not be getting. Pool Landscaping Ideas.
